Smart communities and digital economy
Imagine the potential of connectable digital solutions to accelerate digital and data economy in smart communities.
The European way of digital transformation of cities makes a clear emphasis on building connectable digital solutions that create the conditions for data reuse and for accelerating the digital economy with a clear commitment to move from silo and unconnected projects to data connectivity, solutions, services, data model standardization and open urban data platforms in order to boost local economies. There will be no digital transformation of smart cities and communities without partnerships at all levels – from governments to local communities and digital solution and service providers. In order to achieve the goal of establishing smart cities, villages and communities, it is necessary to connect and cooperate with all stakeholders, from public and state administration, companies, knowledge institutions, research organizations, non-governmental organizations to local self-governments and individuals, that is the whole society.
The topic of the conference is creating conditions for the digital and data economy in smart communities. The IPM Group will present the results of an extensive research on the digitalization of municipalities. These results will be commented on by mayors of some Slovenian municipalities and representatives of key stakeholders. The representative of the European Commission, Eddy Hartog, Member of the European Parliament, Franc Bogovič, and representatives from Hungary will present a vision for the digital development of smart cities and communities with an emphasis on rural areas. Ulrich Ahle from Fiware and Gaber Terseglav from Gaia-X Slovenia will discuss open solutions and the use of open standards for digitalization of smart cities. Representatives of the Gaia-X initiative will present their vision of development and an example of its application in the field of smart communities.
The event is free of charge and will take place in a hybrid manner at the Slovenian Digital Center – Technology for the People in the BTC City Ljubljana, 7 July 2021 from 10:00 to 18:00. The first part of the conference will proceed in Slovenian, while the second one will be in English.
