Spain: Good practice examples at the regional level. Standardization of a unified patient record & creating a regional ecosystem of IT solutions.
Catalonia is a globally respected region for its innovative approach to healthcare. The current EHR systems are proving to be too expensive to maintain, so the region has opted for a different approach. Catalonia is now investing EUR 40m in a new digital health strategy to focus on developing a new model of information systems and Electronic Health Record based on the openEHR – open data standards. The expectation is that the open standards and open data will allow clinicians to have a single comprehensive overview of the patient data that will allow them more time to spend with patients.
Discussion will focus on the Integrated care based on the new digital health strategy in Catalonia.
