Establishment of the European Data Space in the field of healthcare sector is one of the priorities of the European Commission in the 2019-2025 period. The common European Health Data Space will promote better exchange and access to different types of health data (electronic health records, genomic data, patient registry data, etc.) not only by supporting the provision of healthcare (so-called primary use of data), but also by supporting health research and healthcare policy-making (so-called secondary use of data).
The Days of eHealth, which will take place in the Slovenian Digital Center between 30 August and 4 September 2021, will address the topic of data spaces and digital transformation of healthcare through a series of events. The Association for Informatics and Telecommunications, IKT Horizontalna mreža and healthday.si desire to create a dialogue through a series of events dedicated to eHealth, with focus on the European health space and on the exchange of experiences and good practices between Slovenia and the leader countries in some areas of healthcare digitalization.
Portugal and Germany, which together with Slovenia form the EU Presidency Troika, will present the experiences and priorities of the Presidency and good practices of their own countries. The guests from Finland will explain why they are the leaders in secondary data use and how they encourage medical staff in quality data collection. Israel will present the implementation of their national digital health strategy and share with us the experiences from which everyone can learn. The guest from Spain will present the standardization of a single patient card and the construction of a regional ecosystem of IT solutions in Catalonia. The Week of eHealth will conclude with a debate on the role of digital literacy in healthcare, as an importance competence for healthcare professionals as well as for patients.
